Dream Singer Selected Notable Book of the Year
Indie book review magazine “Shelf Unbound” classifies it literary fiction
Portland, Maine, December 5, 2014: Dream Singer, by Frank O Smith, was selected as a Notable Book of the Year in the literary fiction category by “Shelf Unbound,” the indie book review magazine. “Shelf Unbound” reaches 125,000 readers in over 70 countries.
In an email to Smith earlier in the week, notifying him of Dream Singer’s selection, Publisher Margaret Brown wrote that, “Dream Singer is being honored as a Shelf Unbound Notable Book in the category of literary fiction. It will be designated as such in our December/January issue, which will come out at the end of this week, and on our website. We received nearly a thousand entries this year, and it was a very competitive field. Congratulations to you, and thanks again for being a part of our competition.” Brown is a National Book Critics Circle Lifetime Member.
“I’m honored by the distinction of Dream Singer being a Notable Book of the Year, especially in the category of literary fiction,” Smith said. “I’m also honored by the faith of independent bookstores that are carrying the book. And by the many readers I’ve heard from who’ve read and liked the story. I was wanting to write a good story, but frankly, I’ve been surprised that readers have been so taken by it. I’m grateful for their support.”
